About MLD
Mariposa Landscape Design, LLC has been providing professional gardening services in Santa Fe, New Mexico since 2009. In 2018, the business was changed to focus on landscape design, consultation, and occasional project management only. Owner Donna Ehle is a life-long gardener, with a formal educational background in botany and ecology. Donna brings experience, education, creativity, and site-specific problem solving to design work.
Design Factors
Factors that shape design can include providing food for pollinators, water usage, native plants, love of specific plants, color, fragrance, texture, growing herbs and food, desire for shade, year-round interest, level of maintenance desired, use of the space such as for entertaining or meditation, privacy, specific garden style (such as Southwest high color, xeriscape, Zen, contemporary, cottage garden), and more.
Consultation
Stand-alone consultations are also available and are different from initial meetings for design work. Consultations are usually about 1.5 hours long. Topics covered can include identifying existing plants and giving recommendations for their care, plant recommendations for areas of limited size or interplanting among existing plants, xeriscape, waterwise, and native plants, where you are most likely to find certain plants for sale locally, recommendations for size and placement of sitting areas and pergolas, and more.
